New Moon In Cancer

Summer is officially here. Made a playlist for you to shake sum’ to. Stay hydrated tho!

Temperance is the way forward.

Regulate the ego. Tend to your psychic hygiene. Practice responding rather than reacting. When we choose balance, we root ourselves in joy and contentment. Our power lies in cultivating equanimity, and that is precisely why the world around us is working overtime to pull us off-center.

Manipulation is thick in the air, as is greed, deceit, violence, and thirst for power. What’s unfurling is political and spiritual. And the media keeps the chaos flowing. People are getting snatched up by masked men in plain clothing, congresswomen are throwing temper tantrums, slamming gavels like they’re playing Whack-A-Mole, rumors of nuclear wars are swirling, and Love Island USA has the girlies in a tizzy. America is giving us so many twists and turns—it’s giving novela.

This shit is hijacking our attention and fracturing our humanity. It is a very polarizing time and with AI advancing as quickly as it is, critical thinking and heart-opening must be exercised daily.

While we’re distracted and/or dissociated, choices are being made that threaten our collective needs. I know some of us still benefit from privilege. Comfort can breed complacency, and perhaps even a sense of superiority. When we operate from this place, it’s easy for judgement to settle in, for us to doubt the severity of the hardships that others are facing, to imagine they caused their own suffering, or decide it’s “not our responsibility.” Curiosity fades, as does any urgency to act. An obsession with individualism allows for harm to continue going unchecked. We must awaken.

I’ve been reading Invisible Acts of Power by Caroline Myss and in it, she visualizes our energy (chakra) system as an hourglass with the bottom half representing the first 3 chakras, the top half being the 5th, 6th, and 7th chakras, and the center of the the hourglass representing the 4th (heart) chakra. She refers to the heart chakra as the “central control” that mediates between mind and body, and says “the challenge that we all face is to ask the authority of the mind to work with the compassion of the heart, to become congruent.” Miss Caroline ate us up with that one, I fear. This is not the time for know-it-all consciousness. It’s time to learn, feel, and engage.

Now is moment to trade superiority for humility, and arrogance for compassion. Now is the time to cultivate a regular practice of nonviolence—towards ourselves and others. We start by exploring the patterns, fears, and narratives we carry with us. Then we bring them into the light and transmute that rawness into purpose and acceptance. That’s alchemy, baby! From this place of clarity, a fiery energy ignites. We charge into collective action to meet basic needs of our community and spark change. And yes—change is possible. It asks us to be willing to shift our perspectives, to forgive, and to relate.

New opportunities for love, joy, connection, spiritual awakening are here. We are sensing infinite possibilities, and (re)awakening to whimsy. I mean, how magical is it that Zohran Mamdani won the primaries? Like, I’m not really the girlie that capes for public figures. In fact, I lean more towards cynicism when it comes to politicians. BUT his victory shows what happens when we collectively define what matters, agree, and move together towards a shared goal. So congratulations to him—but this is a collective win. We must remember what’s possible when we stand united, and keep going. When we move this way, we birth new systems, and call in leadership committed to abundance, protection, and service for all.

Connection is our life force. Cardinal Cancer energy says activate something new (and don’t be side-steppy about it, either). The madness will continue, and some days will feel like a struggle. Yet with discipline, practice, and the courage to stay open, we activate a divine intelligence that exists in us all. A superpower, if you will. Love. Let’s move in that.
