staying creative in in the midst of perceived chaos

these days i’ve been reflecting on the old habit of dwelling on things that don’t work out as intended. life is full of unexpected occurrences and in the past, i have allowed obstacles to deter me from my goals – we all have. this year has thrown a big ass monkey wrench into everyone’s plans, but there’s a beautiful shift happening if you tune in.

i was swayed by smoke and mirrors… what i mean is that i had allowed society’s imposition of false ideals and standards to be the measuring stick for my worth. feelings of inferiority held me in a position where i was overly concerned with how others viewed me, afraid of failure, comparing myself to others, questioning my gifts, placing limitations on what’s possible, wondering if i was (doing/working hard) enough and falling into cycles of endless, harsh inner chatter. i stopped expressing myself creatively and i stopped doing things that bring joy because i was convinced that until i ticked all the boxes, i didn’t deserve to experience happiness. many of us have felt this at some point in our lives, isn’t that insane?

it is no coincidence that 2020 has come through with a message that the actual insanity lies within the ideals (and the people who created them). i am awakening (we all are) and these realizations are coming through :

i (we) am(are) the standard.

i (we) am (are) worthy simply because i (we) exist.

i (we) am (are) favored.

i (we) am (are) covered in unconditional love.

i (we) am (are) living authentically.

the gifts i (we) have are meant to be shared.

my (our) joy is revolutionary.

there are many unfortunate things happening right now, but unless your life (or that of a loved one) is in jeopardy, all of it is a distraction. staying on the path is key, especially now. that said, i am challenging myself to consistently create and live a life that brings me joy because miracles happen where joy is present.

here’s my new affirmation (feel free to use it): joy is the currency and i am actively creating an endless flow of income.
